5 Podcasts I'm Loving Now

I've been an avid listener of podcasts for years now. They have made commutes enjoyable, been inspirational in creating good in my life, educated me and entertained me. The best ones are truly incredible. These 5 are currently (and for some of them, always) in rotation:

1. This American Life

The grandaddy of good podcasts, the quality of the stories on This American Life is absolutely excellent. Insightful, educational, inspirational, moving, it never disappoints. Host Ira Glass is so curious about life and people, so genuine, he makes you wish you could hang out with him and just talk about the state of the world. I always look forward to the weekly episode, and often wish my commute were longer so I could listen to more!

2. Someone Knows Something, Season 3 - this is a podcast made in Canada, but set in the deep South of the USA. It is of the True Crime genre, investigating a cold case from the 1960s. Hard to listen to at times, to be sure, but profoundly moving, and a fascinating look at the Civil Rights movement, prejudice and forgiveness.

3. The Lively Show - Jess Lively is off on her own adventure, travelling the world, and investigating quantum mechanics, the Law of Attraction and Abraham Hicks. This may be too far on the woo woo scale for some, but I enjoy listening and have definitely been inspired by her journey. This podcast is uplifting and encouraging - a great listen if you need a pick me up.

4. Reply All - Each week Alex Goldman and PJ Vogt investigate some aspect of "life on the internet"... except really they tell beautifully human stories about living in today's world. Compelling and moving and hilarious, and well worth a listen.

5. Heavyweight - hosted by Jonathan Goldstein, I almost don't know how to describe this podcast, other than to say it investigates turning points in people's lives, bringing together people who may not want to be brought together. One of my favourites, for sure.
